Summer 2008 Internship

"My name is Beth and I am currently a senior at Keene State College. In the summer of 2008, I completed an internship in a New York City hospital. My supervisor, Dolli Holland, worked on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Obstetrics and long term ante-partum. My major in sociology had an immense impact when working within the hospital. Working in the hospital from Monday through Friday meant that every day was different and brought new challenges... Working in this field and meeting other social workers gave me many options for example, I can work in the hospital, work with children, work with the elderly or even in the school atmosphere. Talking with my supervisor, I don’t always have to work in the same scene, I can move around in this particular field. Being a social worker is important in people's lives and that is how I felt when it was over. I was helping people feel more comfortable and letting them be at ease during a difficult time." -- Beth Ann Frank
